For those of you who like healthy recipes for simple meals, try this recipe for hangar steak. This is a less expensive cut of meat with great flavor. It is a favorite in our home, but can be hard to find. Call you local butcher, but if you can’t get it, flank steak is a fine substitute.
Ingredients
- 1 hangar steak, usually found at about 3/4 pounds
- PAM spray
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Grill pan is best, but a cast iron frying pan will work
Directions
Let the steak sit out for 10 to 15 minutes to come to room temperature before cooking. Season with salt and pepper to taste. When the steak is just about ready to cook, heat the pan over medium high to high heat until it gets VERY hot. Spray your grill pan with PAM spray. Grill the steak for 6 minutes on each side, adjusting to your own preference. (Time given is for medium-rare) Let the meat stand for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with one of our vegetable side dishes and Doc’s Garlic or Wasabi Smashed Cauliflower.
