Nurse Practicioner (NP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
This individual functions as an independent clinician in the assessment, planning, treatment, communication, care and goals of a comprehensive nutritional program at a highly respected Wellness and Weight Loss Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Candidate must either possess an active Federal DEA License and Florida License to prescribe and dispense medications or be fully credentialed and agreeable to obtain them.
Functions and Responsibilities
· Administer weight loss program together with minor and acute illness, and chronic health conditions related to weight management challenges.
· Comply with established protocols, policies and procedures developed in collaboration with the Center’s Medical Director and/or designee.
· Identify short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommends options and course of action.
· Refer patients to physicians, physicians of specialty, as needed, with written referral indicating proper documentation needed to continue care for patients.
· Diagnose and treat common acute health problems associated with weight control.
· Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic health problems associated with weight control.
· Provide health maintenance care such as basic physical examinations for adolescents and adults.
· Collaborate with physician as needed on complex, unusual and high-risk cases.
· Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
· Prescribe medically necessary medications.
· Follow-up with patients through direct encounters, telephone, email and mail correspondence.
· Document patient contacts in patient chart and EMR/EHR.
· Ensure proper documentation on patient charting, both written and electronic.
· Promote wellness and self-care of patients by providing health education including counseling on exercise and nutrition.
· Attend continuing education conferences as required to maintain licensure.
· Promote community awareness on wellness, weight loss and nutrition.
· Maintain contacts in the community to enhance awareness and public relations with area providers and community groups.
· Assist in developing staff education.
· Recommend and oversee modifications and enhancements of EMR/EHR.
· Participate in other assigned duties as designated by the Medical Director and/or Chief Executive Officer.
Special Skills

· Skill in preparing and maintaining medical records, writing reports, and responding to correspondences.
